Asia’s Latin City hosted Mindanao Bloggers Summit 4

It was my first time to attend a summit of the Mindanao bloggers. I just saw a post or was it my friend who tagged me for the post that there will be a summit which will be held in Asia’s Latin City—my very own Zamboanga City. If you guys don’t know, I was born and raised here in Zamboanga City. That makes me a true blooded Zamboangueña :). I’m not really a hardcore blogger. I just blog when I got time and where there’s a topic that catches my attention. There was a sort of lecture about blogging which happened at the College AVR of Ateneo de Zamboanga University last October 29. Today the summit proper was held at the Garden Orchid Hotel.

All the topics of the speakers were great. But what I like about the summit is that bloggers from Davao, Iligan,General Santos and Cagayan de Oro came to Zamboanga City just to attend. And  most of them has blogs that earn money, isn’t that nice? And I like the tokens that Sir Bariles and his gang gave to the delegates–the opera software key chain.  It’s just a small thing but it really made me happy. Thank you Gensan team and Opera :).

Miss Aileen Apolo from Google Philippines gave also a talk, too bad I didn’t won in any guessing icons about Google. I would love to have a token from her too :D.

There were a few delegates from Zamboanga City even if it was held here. I mean, I was expecting that more bloggers from the City will attend.  Too bad they didn’t. It was a great effort done by the Zamboanga Bloggers lead by Ryan Elumba to make the summit possible. And one of the people whom I can’t forget is Ryan Nabi who was the emcee for the first day and the one who gave the icebreaker today. He was so funny, witty and gay :D. I wish all of the speakers will be like him so people like me will not be bored during long talks. He suggested that it would be nice if the 5th Summit will be held in Basilan, Philippines. Who knows it may happen in the near future.

I’ll add some posts regarding the summit in the coming days. I just need to rest for awhile. I’m just too excited today that I need to post about the Mindanao Summit.

Seeing the bloggers–those hardcore ones was an eye opener for me. It entices me to write more and be inspired. I Just hope that this will not be the last of the activities of the Zamboanga Bloggers but just a prelude of what will happen in the coming months  for the blogging community in Zamboanga City so that we can also help in uplifting the image of our ciudad and also the Mindanao. Adelante Zamboanga! Adelante Mindanao!

My Facebook Chatting Etiquette

Have you experienced chatting with people who don’t say goodbye to you, they just suddenly log out without hinting that they will not answer back? This has happened to me recently and this kinda bothered me a lot :). I’m talking about a guy friend here, when he’s online and he feels he wanna talk to me, he will just send me messages asking how am I today. But after a few exchange of messages, he will just suddenly sign out and leave me there… Maybe I bore him with our convos or he’s just too tired from work or whatever, but could guys just say goodbye when they are leaving the chatroom? It’s sort of pissing me off… I’ve got a brother in law who sometimes do that, when he will ask me something and after my reply, he will just leave. I talked to my sister about this, I just hoped that my brother in law will find time to say goodbye when he is chatting with me.

I just don’t get it why “men” in particular don’t bother to practice some chatting rules. While it’s not mandatory, but people will take it differently when you just leave them hanging. Or is the reason for them leaving without saying goodbye (this applies to male-female friendships) is to build the girl’s anticipation of him? You know those things that you leave them hanging so that the other party will be mystified, confused or irritated (just what I felt).

Guys, I just want to tell you that is better that you practice some chatting etiquette. Don’t leave the other line without saying farewell. Some girls will just wait for you to make the move. That may sound pathetic, but sometimes your hot and cold moves might be misinterpreted by the girl and you will find that she will not take you seriously too. So whatever you wanna say or whatever your intentions, it is better to tell the one you’re talking to about your true intentions.

Weather may change, as well as humans, but before it is too late, don’t play with the feelings of people. Just say it loud and straight.
Who knows you may hit the jackpot :D! So go spread the word…
