Lee Da Hae’s Poor Imitation of Filipino English Teachers

Lee Da Hae appeared in a Korean TV show on KBS network and it was there that she did some imitations on the American, British and the Filipino accent. I’d say she can somewhat imitate the first two accent but she damn failed in the latter’s accent. If you happen to be in the Philippines, even street people, those vendors can speak English. Yeah it may not be that American accent but they can converse to an average Joe.  Can Koreans do that? We were colonized by the Americans (ain’t proud of that 😦 ) that’s why it is like a second language to us aside from the multitude of dialects we speak.

I am a fan of this Korean actress. I’ve loved her in Green Rose, My Girl,  and Hello Miss. And it’s  just not me, many Filipinos loved her and her four series that were shown here in the Philippines and dubbed in Filipino language. There was even a remake of My Girl and there will be a remake of Green Rose too which will be portrayed by some of the hottest Filipino stars lead by Anne Curtis (who is an Australian-Filipino) and Jericho Rosales.  But sad to say, if Lee Da Hae was taught by some Filipino teachers there to speak English, uhm, she’s kinda mocking her teacher  with that stint.  I don’t think Filipinos speak like that. I’d say they might sound more of an American accent than what “agaesshi” portrayed.

This thing she did was a joke, right? Some Filipinos can be over sensitive with this kind of innuendos or joke. When I first saw her video, at first I was angry at her. How dare she do that? Filipinos can speak better English compared to other Asian nationalities especially Koreans. Try conversing with Koreans in English especially those who were not born in the United States and not use in speaking English, they are laughable. Yes they are! Pardon me, but they sound really funny. They can’t even pronounce the word “love” correctly. This may be attributed to their alphabet or nasal thingy. This should not be a huge thing— her doing this monstrous act. There are a lot of Filipinos who are earning money from making jokes of the way other nationalities speak English.  Even some of them are very critical of the Chinese eyes of the neighboring countries and their way of life.

Although some Filipinos might be angry with this, but let us forget this.  There are a lot more important concerns in our lives than this act of hers. However, I’d like to end this, to you Miss Lee Da Hae we have loved you because you act funny in your series, but you shouldn’t be doing things which there’s no even half truth like mimicking or imitating these Filipino teachers who teach your fellow Koreans how to speak English so that you/they can converse with other people in the world without the need of any interpreters. Yes, some Koreans (KPOP artists) went to the Philippines to do shows and concerts but almost there’s always an interpreter with them. ugh!

STOP MOCKING AT PEOPLE IF YOU CAN’T BE OR AREN’T BETTER THAN THEM! 😀

Yes, she already said sorry. But from what I can understand with her statement was she didn’t intend to ridicule the Filipinos and it was the subtitles fault. Duh! One of the Koreans there on the show asked her and “Philippines” was mentioned. Lee Da Hae, a lot of Filipinos got pissed off with what you did.  Anyways, this will pass and maybe we’ll still love you. As the half Korean/Filipino newbie star here Ryan Bang would say and would pronounce “I LILLY, LILLY LIKE YOU!”

The first link I posted yesterday was already blocked, but I’ll tell you there are still a lot of similar videos on youtube. So KBS has to hire more  people to block the videos on the net :D.

~~~~~~~
Shucks! I just posted this awhile ago but it was blocked and some other accounts too.  I’ll be posting a clip from a news team here in the Philippines, I just don’t know if this will be blocked too :D.
And I saw this video from a Filipino guy reacting about what agaesshi had spoken, just wanna share this to you.
Some have regional accent, some don’t. Lucky those who can cover theirs with a slang or a better sounding accent :D.
The Search is Not Yet Over Tiger
I’m currently having an LSS again and this time it is not a new song. It is from the 80’s live version of one of the greatest rock bands of that era—the Survivor. I was into my abc’s during their heyday, but last year and the couple of years back, 80’s song just stuck with me.  Last year I was into Skid Row (where I got my name), Guns N Roses and Bon Jovi.  These were the major old school bands that got me hooked. But there are also of 80’s band that I like. I remembered last year that my hard drive was full of 80’s songs and videos *sick me :D* I was into the era that I felt I breathed metal, leather pants, big and long hair—but i never went into following their style :),  just love their songs. And now when I’m sad or I just want to relax,  I play some of my fave songs from the 80’s —and right now, the Search is Over by Survivor is my fave, lol. It is even my ringtone now. That is how I super like the song :D.
Survivor is not really my fave band, but I like their Eye of the Tiger and the Search is Over. For the Eye of the Tiger, I love Dave Bickler’s version than Jimi Jamison’s, but for the Search is Over —Jimi Jamison nailed it (of course it was during his time that this song was made). Don’t forget the awesome guitar prowess of Frankie Sullivan on the Eye of the Tiger. It is almost equivalent to Slash’s guitar solo on Sweet Child O’ Mine for GNR.  Survivor is a kick ass band! Who can forget the Baywatch theme and the Moment of Truth from Karate Kid—classic show and movie with great classic songs from one of the greatest band of all times—Survivor.
Here are some  vids (thanks to the uploaders) that I went gaga before : A trip down to the memory lane, back in the 80’s where singers and front man can really sing and can command the audience  no matter what their fashion is. They rock—80’s rocks! Sometimes  I wish that these rock icons will not become old but that is next to impossible.  If you look at their faces, they have these aging lines already and they can’t hit the notes that they used to do :(. At least they have given us great songs.
*Survivor’s the Search is Over with Jimi Jamison–this is my ringtone 😀
*Eye of the Tiger with Dave Bickler–became my ringtone too, lol (love the beret also)
*Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger with Jimi Jamison– live in japan where he forgot some lines 😀
~~~it is Happy Summerscroll’s anniversary, congrats guys!

I Love Bingeul Bingeul (Ukiss)

I’m experiencing LSS right now with Ukiss’ Binguel Binguel (Round and Round).  I just love their moves and the song is very catchy. They are the next KPOP group to watch out for and I’m loving Kevin. What’s good with this group is that some of them can understand and speak English for some of them are born in the US and some studied languages. Huh! And they have visited the Philippines twice already and did  a concert last week at Araneta. Talk about KPOP invasion! Alex singing Bebot (of Apl d Ap-Black Eyed peas) was so nice and I’d say two thumbs up for his effort on trying to be closer to the Filipinos by singing a Filipino song. Hope that they will have more hits. Aja!

Here’s the lyrics for the Binguel Binguel Lovers:

Are you ready

Spin spin spin spin. Spin spin spin spin
Spin spin spin spin. Spin spin spin spin

It was all words said out of anger
Even though I regret now, I was crazy, girl
I never thought you and I would have such a day
I wanna see you girl, come back, please

Now that you have left me, only you are living well
What kind of situation is this, I’m really exhausted
Not even a phone call from you
You’re so mean.
My head is spinning spinning

Don’t leave me
I definitely need you
I just want you baby here right now now now
I love you

Spin spin spin spin (Around you) spin spin spin spin
Spin spin spin spin (Today, too) spin spin spin spin

I’m spinning all around you
Only you can make me satisfied. You make me tingle tingle.
You are my life’s bingo. To throw everything away for you, I’m eager.
Because I lost you, you’re the girl in the mirror

Tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock, time passes by
Oh your heart which I cannot understand at all
Smile smile smile smile, the smiling you
Where did you go I cannot find you girl

Now that you have left me, only you are living well
What kind of situation is this, I’m really exhausted
Not even a phone call from you
You’re so mean.
What did you do last night, oh oh

Don’t leave me
I definitely need you
I just want you baby here right now now now
I love you

Spin spin spin spin (Around you) spin spin spin spin
Spin spin spin spin (Today, too) spin spin spin spin

Until now, I still love you
Only you know me this well
Indispensable girl, you are the only one
Please don’t leave me

Spin spin spin spin (Around you) spin spin spin spin
Spin spin spin spin (Today, too) spin spin spin spin

Kim Hyun Joong to do a Concert in Manila

Kim Hyun Joong, a South Korean pop superstar and a member of SS501 arrived in Manila, Philippines on June 17, 2010. The singer actor who is popularly known as Jihoo, a character he played in Korea’s version of Hana Yori Dango–Boys Over Flowers is set to perform as a solo artist in a benefit concert for the young mothers with another K-pop group called the Beast. KHJ’s popularity with Hwang Bo on a tv series “We Got Married” got them an award. But it was his character as Jihoo that made him to be so known in the Philippines.

On the side note, it was the Meteor Garden, Taiwan’s version of HYD, that endeared Lei’s character to the Filipinos as well as the other F4 guys along with Sanchai and this is also the show that started the craze for Asian series in the Philippines. Boys Over Flowers was a hit in the Philippines but it never gained the “fever” that the MG brought. Meteor Garden was so popular in the Philippines that the F4 guys went here to perform a sold-out concert, with the other guys doing product endorsements. Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Zhu, Vaness and Barbie Xu (she brought also her sister) visited the Philippines a couple of years ago and the Filipinos just went gaga over them. Although their show was only dubbed in the Filipino language but it never stopped the Filipinos in loving them. Too bad Boys Over Flowers never make it that big here. But maybe if the casts of BOF went here during the airing in the Philippines and did a concert, maybe the venue will also be filled by the people. We love Jun Pyo, Jihoo, and the rest of the guys.

This June 19, we hope that Kim Hyun Joong will entertain the Filipinos through his performance. I saw his interview on the airport on a local news show, and boy I’m just frustrated that there was a translator! Urgh! Can he not converse in English? Probably he can understand English, but maybe next time when Koreans come here in the Philippines they should try to speak in English for KHJ’s translator on the airport was not that good or maybe she was just tense. If you try to listen to her translation, your nose will bleed (sorry). Maybe next time they should get those translators who can perform their job with expertise whether it is an ambush interview 😉 . When Ukiss came here, some of them can speak English and that’s just great.

SuperJunior’s concert was a success although not all the seats were occupied but the turn out is good. We don’t know if KHJ’s concert along with (sorry to say this) a not so popular Kpop group will meet with the same success with Suju’s. Ukiss did have a concert also in the Philippines. Wow! A Kpop invasion! Wohoo!

Maybe next time 2ne1, DBSK, Girls Generation  and other Asian artists will also be here to entertain the Filipinos.

Jovit Baldivinio, First Pilipinas Got Talent Winner

Congratulations to the small boy with a great voice for bagging the first Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) winner. Jovit Baldivino, a 16-year-old guy, who used to sell Siomai to help his family won on June 13, 2010. As any Got Talent show, different acts were performed for the finals. There were contestants who sang, dance, performed magic tricks and some entertaining stuff. But it was Jovit who nailed it with almost 50% of the text votes from the people  hailing him as the winner. Jovit was noticed by the Filipinos when he sang Journey’s Faithfully, his voice sound like Arnel’s. He was likened to the new frontman of the band Arnel Pineda, who is also a Filipino and with rags to riches story.

He did some nice cover of Europe’s Carrie and Queen’s Too Much Love Will Kill you for his performance on the semifinals and the finals respectively. As an old school lover, I’d say his renditions are okay. Although nothing beats the original, but dude this little boy got some lungs! Nice voice I mean :).

Alakim’s magic tricks performance and The Velasco Brothers dance moves were also fantastic, but too bad the votes were not for them.

Jovit will need some overhauling if he wants to make it big in showbusiness. It is not just pure talent that will deliver success, but everything has to fall in its right place.

Goodluck Boy and hope you will make it!

(audition of Jovit: Journey’s Faithfully)
